Friends of the Staunton Library
Volunteers who raise money, run programs, and cheer on the Staunton Public Library.

What we do
Four ways the Friends show up for the library
Every dollar we raise and every hour we volunteer goes back into the Staunton Public Library and the people who use it.

Our biggest fundraiser of the year fills the Gypsy Hill Park Gym with thousands of donated books each October. Members get first pick at a members-only preview before the doors open to the public.

A free concert at the library on the first Thursday of every month at noon. Bring your lunch, settle in, and enjoy an hour of live music from local and regional performers.

Library staff working toward a master's degree in library science can have their tuition reimbursed by the Friends. It is one of the most direct ways we invest in the people who make the library run.

When the library needs something its budget cannot cover, the Friends step in. Our newest project is the shaded terrace, a welcoming outdoor space made possible by a generous gift from Julia Kiessling.
